ABOUT VERONIKA

I am a language expert with a PhD in Linguistics and a freelance consultant who is eternally curious about the way people use language in business.

I am a professor at Lancaster University’s internationally renowned discipline Linguistics and English Language (ranked 3rd in the world, 2025 QS university subject rankings). Before that, I worked at the triple-accredited WU Vienna University of Economics and Business. I have 25 years of experience in research, teaching and knowledge exchange about business communication, along with more than 15 years of experience as a freelance consultant.

I can work in English and German.

ABOUT MY WORK

My work helps clients understand how the building blocks of language – words, grammar, sentences – can be used to improve the quality of their communications. My focus areas are change management and employee relations, market research and preparation, and crisis communication.

What value do your services provide?

Language is all around us, so, like fish in water, we tend to forget it is there. But how your team members, your clients and your stakeholders use language reveals a lot about their beliefs and values. By breaking down the mechanics of language - words, sentences and grammar -, my work shows underlying and often unconscious attitudes. It allows you to tap into the minds of stakeholders and helps you to “speak your mind” - literally!
